Dana & Scott's Favorite Memories:
We’re headed for Singapore!!! Scott has been working for the last 3 years on an ExxonMobil project to build a new manufacturing
complex in Singapore on
. We’ll be moving to Singapore the beginning of July and will probably live there for 18-24
months. We’re very excited and a little nervous all at the same time. It is a great professional opportunity for Scott and we feel like it
will be a great cultural experience for the kids, but the move is definitely outside of our comfort zone.
We celebrated our 5-year anniversary in March… yay us! It is hard to believe it has been 5 years already. It seems like the time has
just flown by. So much has happened in our lives over the last 5 years, but it has been wonderful and we have been truly blessed
with lots of love and two wonderful, healthy children.
Speaking of the children, Sam and Hannah are doing just fantastic. Despite the precociousness and exhausting energy that goes
with their ages, they are truly wonderful, sweet and personable children. Hannah just celebrated her 2nd birthday in March. She is
just the cutest, sweetest little girl. She is talking up a storm now; definitely the social butterfly in the family. She has a wonderful
personality and is very approachable. Everyone at school just loves her and Sam. Sam is doing well. He will turn 4 years-old in June,
and he is scary-smart; it is truly frightening. He can do 100-piece puzzles by himself in under ½ hour and has been reading books on
his own for several months now and can speak some Hebrew as well. It is amazing watching him learn and grow and seeing the
things he can do. His brain is like this giant sponge that never gets saturated. Sometimes, it can be hard keeping him satiated.
The dogs are just as happy-go-lucky as ever. Sanford has gotten a little portly in recent months; we obviously aren’t exercising him
enough. Lizzie is still the troublemaker. Sanford and Lizzie have become quite the beggars at the dinner table, thanks to the kids.
Fortunately, the kids do not torment the animals nearly as much as they used to.
We have some sad news as well. Weezer went missing on April 13th and we haven’t seen her since. It’s not like her to stray far from
the house, so we don’t know what happened to her. We walked the neighborhood, put up fliers, talked to the neighbors, checked the
pounds, but she hasn’t shown up. We just hope that someone found her and decided to keep her and that she is in a good home
with a family that will love her as much as we do. She was a great cat and we really miss her a lot: her crazy meow, her snuggles
under the blankets, and her ability to stay on top of us in bed, even when we’d roll over. Wherever you are Weezer, we love you.
Things are so crazy in our lives right now… There are an unbelievable number of things that have to be done to prepare for the
move and we are really just getting started. We had contractors in the house for two weeks making final repairs before we put the
house on the market for sale in mid-May. Scott had hip surgery in February and is homebound for 10 weeks, so he is pretty useless
around the house; Dana is pretty much in charge of the move, thankfully. The movers come in early June to pack and ship/store our
belongings, so we don’t really have a lot of time to prepare the house. You would not believe the amount of paperwork that goes into
an international relocation: birth certificates, immunizations, marriage license, diplomas, passports, Singapore employment pass
(Scott’s visa), dependant passes (visas for Dana and the kids), requests for permission to bring prescription medications into the
country (each prescription requires associated physician documentation), bank account applications, relocation checklists, expense
authorizations, Customs declaration, detailed valued inventories for the movers, blah, blah, blah… it is never-ending. Then there are
the dogs to deal with…
We’re in the midst of making arrangements for Sanford and Lizzie to make the move to Singapore with us. It is quite the endeavor;
they fly out from Houston to Amsterdam. When they arrive in Amsterdam, they get to stay in a posh pet hotel overnight. The next day
they get on another flight from Amsterdam to Singapore. After they get into Singapore, they get transported across town to the
quarantine facility where they will be for 30 days. It is a long time to be in quarantine, but Singapore is a Rabies-free country, so no
way around it. The crummy part is that you can only visit the animals between 4:00 and 6:00 pm during the weekdays. That is a
difficult time for us to get over there during the week; Scott will be at work and Sam will probably just be getting home from school
around 4:00 – 4:30 pm. We’ll see how it goes. The quarantine facility is open Saturday between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm, so that will
give us some nice quality time with the pups.
Please make yourself comfortable and have a look around at the new website. There are tons of photos and interesting things to
look at, and don’t forget to sign our guestbook. :-)
– Scott & Dana.
